Protectzia, Hebrew, slang, n.
1. Lit. “having pull”
2. Political cover or influence, frequently acknoweldged as necessary to get anything done in Israel. Such as, “Jews are the new WASPs — White Anglo-Saxons with Protectzia.”
More from linguistlist:
The Israeli word “protectzia” sounds like the English word “protection” since Hebrew -tzia is the standard Israeli equivalent for English -tion. But the meaning of this word in Hebrew is based on the Greek táxi(s) = “arranging”, as in English taxidermy. So, the Israeli meaning of “protectzia” is “having (political) pull or influence” that is, the ability to “arrange things”. By contrast, the exact sound “protection”, as borrowed into Israeli Hebrew, means “a condom”.
I ripped off your nomenclature category. You can’t have been the first, though, eh?
