I’m heading to Bean-town (which apparently was nicknamed so because of a giant bean-truck spill, I shit you not) today for more progressive Israel organizing, but have a bunch of thoughts to throw out there:
- I’m sure you’ve noticed I’m developing a department on this blog called “Nomenclature” to define not only progressive buzzwords, non/post/trans-denominational slang, and my own idiosyncrasies but also redefine the tangled, confusing web of the Jewish community’s institutions and fears as well. Send me words you think should be (re)defined!
- I’m on the S.H.I.T. List! Finally! I’ve been waiting three years for this!
- I did not go to Limmud NY this weekend not just because I do enough Jewish conferences, but with all the traveling I’m about to do, I just wanted one weekend at home. Traveling for business is less fun if you’re couch-surfing it.
- Someone I met recently and admire very truthfully thought I implied that she was a sell-out on that last post. No way! I thought everyone at that dinner was so inspiring. My apologies to you — I meant no such thing.
- Some days working with/for Israelis is fun. And other days I feel like I’m asking a cactus for a hug. Argh.
- This article “The Peace Planners Strike Again” in Commentary is the most comprehensive summary of the peace process political economy calculus I’ve seen to date. A must-read for those who want to know the challenges from a pragmatic viewpoint.
- Israeli anarchists and friends plan protests against the Gaza seige in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Beer Sheva and Jerusalem.
Mazel tov on making the S.H.I.T. List! I almost feel like [anonymously] donating a photo of you so that you can be more prominently viewed on the page. Now I’ll have to read through and see how many other friends are on there (here’s hoping!)…
